AtTheGate is an online marketplace for thoroughbred racing and breeding stock operated by AtTheGate International Auctions Ltd. When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “our,” it means that entity.

Account information: name, email address, password, and any optional profile details you choose to add.
Listing information: when you sell a horse, we collect the horse details, pedigree, photos, videos, documents, and the seller contact information you choose to display (contact name, phone, text number, email, and preferred contact method).
Bid information: bid amounts, timestamps, and auction activity tied to your account.
Payment information: listing fees, commissions, and other sale-related charges are processed through Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers; Stripe handles payment data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
Communications: messages sent through our contact form or to our notification email address.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically through our hosting and authentication services.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage your account.
Display horse listings and auction information to buyers.
Process bids and notify bidders of outbid, proxy, and winning-bid events.
Collect listing fees, commissions, and other sale-related charges.
Verify listings and enforce our auction rules.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the limited ways described below:

With other users: when you list a horse, the contact details you choose to display are visible to registered users who view your listing. Bidders’ identities are masked in the public bid history.
With service providers: we use Stripe for payment processing and Lovable Cloud for hosting, authentication, database, and transactional email delivery. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually bound to use it only for those purposes.
For legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to operate the marketplace. We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, prompt you for consent.

6. Data security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit, secure authentication, and access controls. However, no online service can guarantee complete security. You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential.

7. Data retention

We keep your account information and listing history for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us; some information may be retained where required by law.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

9. Children’s privacy

AtTheGate is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.
