How AtTheGate Works
A daily online auction workflow built around thoroughbred buyers, sellers, consignors, breeders, and trainers.

Seller submits a listing
The seller enters horse details, location, category, gender, seller contact information, photos, video, and documents for review.

AtTheGate reviews the lot
Admin checks the submission, purchases and attaches free Equibase Lifetime Past Performances where applicable (plus Arion and Racing Post PPs for international horses), and approves the listing.

Buyers inspect and bid
Buyers review the catalog page, ask the seller questions, arrange pre-bid inspection if needed, and place live or proxy bids.

Auction closes
Soft-close timing protects late bidding. The winning buyer then receives a commission invoice with the seller's contact details and a 72-hour completion window.

Payment and logistics
Buyer and seller arrange payment, transfer documents, insurance, health papers, and shipping directly. Both parties confirm completion so AtTheGate can record the sale.
